Welcome Superintendent Robin Becker
July 01, 2010
Dear Germantown Students, Parents, and Community Members,
It is with great pleasure that we introduce the new Superintendent at Germantown Elementary School District #60, Mrs. Robin Becker. The 2010-11 school year will mark Mrs. Becker’s 18th year in education. The first 12 years were spent at Germantown where she served in a variety of capacities as a teacher, coach, Student Council moderator, technology coordinator, school improvement coordinator, and Title I coordinator. After earning a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from SIUE, Mrs. Becker accepted a job at Shiloh Village School District #85 and assumed the role of building principal at Shiloh Elementary School from 2005-2010. During her tenure at Shiloh, Mrs. Becker implemented many new programs including MAD Science, Spanish, Gifted, Summer Latchkey, and teacher mentoring. She led building initiatives in the areas of technology integration and differentiated instruction. Both initiatives were instrumental in helping Shiloh Elementary School receive recognition by the Illinois State Board of Education as a 2009 Academic Excellence Award recipient. That same year, Mrs. Becker was honored by the Illinois State Board of Education with a Those Who Excel award. In 2009, Mrs. Becker earned a Specialist degree in Educational Administration. The Specialist degree certified her to serve as a Superintendent of Schools. Mrs. Becker’s future plans include working towards a Doctorate in Education.
Mrs. Becker not only brings a wide variety of professional experience to the job, but she also understands the dynamics of a rural, farming community. Born and raised on a farm in Clinton County, Mrs. Becker has lived in St. Rose her entire life. She is married to Craig Becker and has two children, Alexa and Peyton. Alexa will be a senior in high school. Her future plans include playing softball at Murray State and studying secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics and a minor in coaching. Peyton will be in the seventh grade. He plays basketball and football. Mrs. Becker brings with her the ability to see things from a parent’s perspective while at the same time advocating for the best interests of the students, the school district, and the community as a whole.
Mrs. Becker comes to us highly recommended by representatives of Shiloh Village SD #85 where she connected with all stakeholders of the school to make Shiloh Elementary School a place where student achievement was high, families felt welcome, and faculty and staff thrived. We have great confidence that she will not only lead Germantown in continuing its tradition of offering high quality academic, athletic, and extra-curricular programs, but she will also guide the District to new heights. Please help us welcome Mrs. Becker back to Germantown. We are excited about her return and have confidence she will bring outstanding leadership to the position.
Sincerely,
The Germantown Board of Education
